1st Chakra – (Root Chakra) - Element: Earth
The Root Chakra is the root of your being and your deepest connection to your body and earth. The primary drive associated with this chakra is survival. Food, clothing, shelter and protection are the necessities to which it responds. It opens downward in the direction of the Earth, indicating its importance in connecting a person to their physical environment. The first chakra is particularly important in psycho-spiritual integration. It is one end of a system that at the opposite end opens at the seventh chakra. To maintain the proper pressure within the system, the first chakra must be opened and balanced with the seventh chakra.
