May Dyad Moon

The Dyad Moon, The Planting Moon, The Flower Moon

Dyad, the Latin word for a pair, refers to the twin stars of the constellation of Castor and Pollux. This is the time to honor the Sacred Marriage of the Goddess and God. The time when everything is in bloom, opposites attract, dualities become one, and balance and harmony abound.

Signifying the consummation of the marriage of the Lord and Lady, the Dyad Moon is very powerful indeed. At this time, the Couple twirls in perfect synchronization, not only moving across the Earth in a passionate mating dance of sheer ecstasy, but fertilizing all in Their path. Trees and grass grow lush and verdant. Flowers burst into full bloom. The winds and rains give way to the golden rays of the Sun. And the world, once more, basks in the warm glow of fertile sensuality.

With the growing season at its most fertile, the Dyad Moon provides an excellent time for all sorts of creative endeavors. Projects are completed easily now, and new ideas come together cohesively. In fact, it seems that everything, even the wildest dream, is well within the realm of possibility. All we have to do is reach out and grab it!

The energy of this Moon is so potent that even the impossible is within reach, so work on difficult problems now. In addition, the Dyad Moon provides an excellent time to perform efforts involving matters of the heart, fertility, passion, physical stamina, energy, health, friendships, prosperity, and completion.

Sample Dyad Ritual Invocation:

O Mother, as You twirl about
In loving dance, the world throughout
Infuse me with Your energy
Bring to my work, fertility

So all my goals grow lush from seed
And manifest by word and deed
And fill my heart, too, with Your love
As You look down now from above

Dyad Moon Circle, Ritual and Celebration Ideas:

  • Dress in bright colors and adorn yourself with flowers of the season.
  • Cover the altar with a lace tablecloth and decorate with wedding paraphernalia and fresh flowers.
  • Use gold and silver candles on the altar and burn a floral incense like jasmine, orange blossom, or apple blossom, or use Full Moon Incense.
  • Cast and asperge the Circle with a bouquet fashioned of fresh flowers tied with brightly colored ribbons.
  • Serve white cake and mimosa (champagne mixed with orange juice) for libation. For non-alcoholic rituals, serve an orange juice blend (such as Orange-Peach-Mango) or flavored sparkling water, for libation.
  • Celebrate friendships, partnerships, and intimate relationships.
  • Ask friends or coven members to bring flowers or herb snippets from their gardens (small bunches of wildflowers picked on the roadside work well, too) and use a book on plants, foliage, or herbs to discover the messages that each plant delivers. Then make small bouquets to spell out specific messages for each attendee.
  • Have a dance and offer small bundles of bird seed wrapped in tulle and tied with a green ribbon as party favors.
